We often hear the word 'metabolism'. In simplelanguage, metabolism is a bio-mechanical process of breaking down the food to convert it into energy. The process burns the calories through chemical reactions for which it requires sufficient quantities of water to act as fuel. So, if you do not drink plenty of water, you do not help the process of metabolism to burn the calories accumulated through the consumption of food. The unused calories cause the increase in weight.
Some overweight people claim that they have taken sufficient quantities of water but that has not helped them to reduce weight. The reason for this is that they are eager to get the results a bit too soon. It must be understood that your body needs some time to get accustomed to consume more water. So in the initial days, you run to bathroom as soon as you drink water. This discourages you about the utility of drinking lots of water as it goes out as soon as it comes in. What you fail to understand is that your body is using water in the initial days to flush out the wastes that have accumulated over the time.
According to the experts" it is a beautiful process happening to you" and " takes a while" to show its impact. If you continue drinking water, it tries to eliminate the water and the waste matter in the intestines that has accumulated in the ankles, hips, and thighs or even round the tummy. You must realize that the water being excreted out is the one that was lying stored up earlier. Your body' figures' out that it no more requires to save or store water now that it has started coming. And if you stop drinking water after a few initial days and betray your body's trust and expectation of continued supply, it stops flushing out the feces and other wastes. The result is that you return to your earlier overweight life even before reaching the 'breakthrough point'. If you are overweight, you need all the more water to lose the extra pounds. And if you live in hot climates, you need still more to provide for evaporation. It must, however, be noted that you should not try to drink away all the water in one go. Spread its intake evenly over the day. Do not allow yourself to become thirsty, as it implies that you are already dehydrated. So drink water even while you are not thirsty yet.
