Drinks That Aid Weight Loss

There are plenty of weight loss drinks available on the market today. You can find drinks that are high in protein or high in carbohydrates or even high in healthy fats. Each of these drinks is designed to assist in weight manipulation goals. Don’t be fooled into thinking that just because a drink is found in the "nutrition" section of your local food store or in a nutrition store it’s going to aid in weight loss. Many of these diet drinks are used to help underweight people gain weight. Always look at labels prior to purchasing a weight loss drink to ensure that you’re getting what you’re looking for.
Water is and always will be the most important weight loss drink available. Up to 60 percent of the human body is made of water. Water is essential to basic functions of the human body. The brain alone is made of about 70 percent water. The body uses water to aid in digestion, nutrient absorption, waste excretion and many other vital functions. You can hydrate your body using sports drinks and fruit juices; however, these options contain calories. Water has zero calories and, therefore, is the optimal weight loss drink. The only draw back to using water as a weight loss drink is that, while it contains zero calories, it also contains zero nutrients. If water is your main source of fluid intake, you’ll have to look elsewhere for vitamins and minerals that are typically found in fruit juices.
Protein shakes are another great weight loss drink. You can purchase protein drinks that are already mixed, or you can buy protein powder and mix it to make a shake. Protein shakes make great weight loss drinks because most of them contain low-carbohydrates and low-fat. They also provide your body with a concentrated and easy to digest form of protein that you need to build muscle. As you build muscle, your body will become more efficient at burning calories. So, you can see why protein shakes are great weight loss drinks. As I mentioned above, always check the labels on your protein shakes to make sure that you’re not getting a high calories drink that will actually hinder your weight loss efforts.
Coffee is also a wonderful weight loss drink. As a caffeinated beverage, it acts a diuretic, so it’s important that you drink plenty of water to supplement any coffee you consume. However, since caffeine is a stimulant, coffee acts to boost your metabolism. It gives you energy to have a more intense workout and it makes you feel full. The greatest part about coffee – that’s right, it contains zero calories! I’m talking about black coffee with some artificial sweetener, not a coffee house cappuccino. So, if you need a weight loss drink and a pick-me-up, coffee will do wonders for you.
There are several zero calorie drinks available on the market today, including Crystal Light, Propel and all diet sodas to name a few. All of these beverages can be used as weight loss drinks. Just be aware that they contain no vitamins or nutrients. So, drink up, but remember to take your multivitamins to supplement your diet.
